Fundraising Initiative: Save the Axolotls!

Axolotls are one of the most extraordinary amphibians on Earth, native only to the ancient lake systems of Xochimilco, Mexico. These gentle, permanently aquatic salamanders are known for their ability to regenerate limbs, organs, and even parts of their brain, making them incredibly important to scientific and medical research. Today, however, axolotls are critically endangered in the wild due to habitat loss, water pollution, and invasive species. Fewer than a thousand are estimated to remain in their natural environment. Researchers at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) are at the forefront of axolotl conservation, working to protect remaining habitats, restore waterways, and maintain ethical breeding programs that support both conservation and research efforts.
Through this fundraiser, The Grove is supporting axolotl conservation by helping fund research, habitat restoration, and education efforts connected to this work. At The Grove, we believe environmental care begins with understanding and connection. By sharing the story of axolotls-especially with children and families-we’re fostering empathy for endangered species and highlighting how human actions directly impact fragile ecosystems. Every donation helps protect not just a single species, but an entire living system, reminding us that when we care for the smallest and most vulnerable among us, we strengthen the whole web of life.
